How to travel to Bornholm – by plane and ferry
“At rejse er at leve” (to travel means to live) Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen once said. And a trip to Bornholm definitely means living – because you travel comfortably and easily to pure rest and relaxation. Here we show you the best way to get to Bornholm.
Travel with the direct car ferry from Sassnitz
The easiest way to get to Bornholm is with your own car by taking the direct and modern car ferry from Sassnitz/Rügen in Northeast Germany. → Bornholmslinjens Ferries depart from Sassnitz/Rügen, Køge (DK) and Ystad (S) directly to Bornholm.
From Sassnitz, the ferry takes you to Bornholm within 3 hours and 20 minutes. During the high season there are even two departures during weekends. Tickets are available from DKK 699 (approx. €94).
If you are travelling via Køge on the Danish island of Sjælland, the night crossing takes around 5 hours and 30 minutes. Departure is every night at 12.30 am.
If you want to travel to Bornholm by fast ferry via Ystad in southern Sweden, you can choose between several daily crossings. The crossing with the modern catamaran ferry takes only 1 hour and 20 minutes.
From the harbor in Rønne you arrive at Hotel Allinge within 30 minutes.

Travel to Bornholm by plane – DAT/Bornholmerflyet
From Copenhagen (CPH) you can easily and comfortably fly to Bornholm (RNN) with → DAT/Bornholmerflyet.
The airline connects the island of Bornholm with the Danish capital several times a day. During the summer months there are also direct flights from Billund Lufthavn (BLL) and Aalborg Lufthavn (AAL) to Bornholm.
If you fly to Bornholm from Copenhagen, you can be on the island in just under 40 minutes.
Car rental on Bornholm via DAT/Bornholmerflyet
DAT/Bornholmerflyet has its own office at Bornholm Airport. Here they are happy to help you with ticket booking and also with a cheap rental car on Bornholm. If you fly with DAT, you can rent a car on Bornholm from DKK 299 per day (incl. free kilometers).
Driving time from Bornholm Airport to Hotel Allinge is approximately 30 minutes.
